Price premiums for farmers-studies and analysis
The studies and analyses linked below, which have been posted on the CWB Web site for several years, take an academic approach to the measurement of the ability of the CWB single desk to achieve price premiums for western Canadian farmers.
- This link analyzes a 2002 study prepared by the George Morris Centre and the 1996 study by professors Al Loyns and Colin Carter, on which it draws. Both were commissioned by the Alberta government. Neither used actual CWB sales data. Both studies were referenced in a November 2006 commentary piece by the Hon. - This link houses the executive summary of a 2001 study on wheat premiums, with a methodology developed by University of Saskatchewan agricultural economist, professor Richard Gray, commissioned by the CWB.
