SHELLFISH SPECIES PAGE

There are six main species of bivalve shellfish currently being raised across Canada. There are several other species that are being tested for their potential for wide-scale, commercial production. Prince Edward Island is the largest shellfish producer in Canada, followed by British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Quebec.

We are working on providing profiles for all the aquaculture-related species. This is a work in progress. Species profiles will be added as they become available. Thank you for your patience.
