International Education Promotion

The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) works with other federal departments, provincial and territorial governments, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions and companies to internationally promote the Canadian education and training industry. As Canada evolves from a resource-based to a knowledge-based economy, we are well-positioned to address the increasing demands for high-quality education and learning products and services.

Each year, Canada welcomes over 150,000 international students who come here to benefit from the high quality of Canadian education programs. Canadian schools offer a tremendous range of choices - large and small institutions; English, French or bilingual; in cities, small towns or reaching out through the Internet. There are also a greater number of Canadian institutions who are offering Canadian-curricula programs at campuses abroad.

For more information about studying in Canada, please visit www.edu-canada.gc.ca which offers a search function to look for post-secondary study programs in Canada, with estimates with regards to tuition fees and the costs of living in Canada's provinces as well as information about obtaining a study permit, and links to the different scholarships available for international students.

Many Canadian academic institutions and businesses export their services or products to international clients. For more information about the export of educational products or services, please visit www.infoexport.gc.ca
