The Volunteer Program

The Volunteer Program is a joint initiative of Revenu Québec and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The goal is to provide assistance to people who need help completing their tax returns but who cannot afford to use the services of tax professionals.

The Volunteer Program provides training to volunteers from associations and community groups. Volunteers need not be tax specialists; they should

• have some experience is completing income tax returns; and
• be willing to devote a few hours to helping others.

The volunteers meet with individuals at tax clinics, which are usually held on the premises of the participating associations. The tax returns of people who use volunteer services are generally straightforward.

Volunteers can count on assistance from the personnel of both Revenu Québec and the CRA to complete the income tax returns of program users.
