Advance Payments Program
The Advance Payments Program is a financial loan guarantee program that gives producers easier access to credit through cash advances.
The new Advance Payments Program (APP) is now available to producers. The Spring Credit Advance Program and the previous Advance Payments Program have now been merged into a single program which is the new APP.
A number of producer organizations across the country are delivering cash advances under the new APP. These producer organizations are listed along with the list of products on which they are offering cash advances at the following link: participating producer organizations. As new producer organizations are ready to deliver the program, they will be listed on the APP Web site.
For producers, the new APP means improved cash flow throughout the year and better opportunities for marketing their agricultural products.
Program Improvements:
- The limit on cash advances has increased from $250,000 to $400,000.
- The interest-free amount on cash advances has doubled from $50,000 to $100,000.
- Coverage has expanded to include livestock and an additional variety of crops
- Producers now have up to 18 months (April to September of the following year) rather than 12 months to get and repay their cash advances.
