Sidney, B.C. The Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) of Fisheries
and Oceans Canada announced today the publication of a new edition of PAC 200 General
Information – Pacific Coast (Second Edition, 2006). This volume is a compendium
of nautical, oceanographic and critical emergency information required for safe
navigation by commercial and recreational vessels and is intended for use with CHS
charts and Sailing Directions booklets. The previous edition of this publication
is now cancelled.
The new edition features updated information on:
- Shipping routes and port facilities
- Canada/U.S. border crossing and customs reporting requirements
- Aids to navigation and electronic positioning
- Marine information reporting
- Cold water survival
- Natural conditions – meteorology, tides, currents, waves and tsunami
- CHS nautical publications
It also includes new diagrams and has an expanded Appendices
section. A new indexing system references the material by chapter and paragraph
number rather than by page number.
This publication can be updated monthly through information published
in Canadian Notices to Mariners, available at www.notmar.gc.ca
The new edition is now available for purchase from your local
CHS chart dealer. The price is $19.95 plus tax. A listing of CHS chart dealers is
