Closed Areas for Shellfish Harvesting Gaspesie
June 1, 2007


QUEBEC CITY - Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, wants to inform the Gaspesie population that the harvesting of shellfish is now forbidden due to pollution, in accordance with the prohibition orders mentioned below, and pursuant to subsection 3(1) of the Management of Contaminated Fisheries Regulations, in the following shellfish areas:

Prohibition Order No. QSN-388 and QSN-386

Estuaire de la rivière Saint-Jean
The Rivière Saint-Jean's estuary [Haldimand Lagoon], upriver from the railroad.

Jersey Cove
From Ruisseau des Whitty to 150 meters south Pointe Carse.

Miguasha
From Pointe aux Corbeaux to Pointe Labillois, excluding the waters of Bassin de la Rivière Nouvelle.

Île Laviolette
From a point at the west of Ile Laviolette, along its exterior shore, to the motel Tradition in St-Omer.

Baie de Port-Daniel
From Pointe du Sud-Ouest to the west side of the road 132 bridge in Port-Daniel, including the waters of Petite Rivière Port-Daniel's estuary.

Île aux Groseilles
From Pointe Labillois to a point located at east side of Banc de sable Robitaille, excluding the waters of Bassin de la Rivière.
