Closed Areas for Shellfish Harvesting Magdalen Islands
September 28 , 2007


QUEBEC CITY – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, wants to inform the Magdalen Islands population that the harvesting of shellfish is now forbidden (for preventive reason) due to toxicity, in accordance with the prohibition order mentioned below, and pursuant to subsection 3(1) of the Management of Contaminated Fisheries Regulations, in the following shellfish areas:

Prohibition Order No. QTN-435

Anse au Sable
From a point west of Cap Nord-Est’s bridge to Pointe à Keaten.

Pointe à Keaten
The foreshore and waters inside the Grand Étang, between Pointe à Keaten and 200 meters west of the Salt Mine wharf.

Sud du Grand Étang
The foreshore and waters inside the Grand Étang, between a point located 200 meters west of the Salt mine wharf and a point located to the south of Grand Étang.
