DETAILS OF PROJECTS AT FOUR SMALL CRAFT HARBOURS FOR THE AVALON AREA OF NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR

Portugal Cove South - As a result of damage caused by a storm last fall, a project to repair the existing breakwater wharf will occur at this harbour. Preliminary planning has been completed and the repairs are expected to be carried out this year.

Renews - The fishermen’s wharf on the north side of the harbour has been damaged over time by wave agitation. A project to stabilize, repair, and provide additional protection for vessels will take place this year. The small boat basin development on the south side of the harbour will be completed with final dredging activity and the installation of floating docks.

Trepassey - A project to repair the finger pier, damaged during a storm in late 2006, will be undertaken at this harbour this year.

Fermeuse – A project to reconstruct and extend the finger pier which was announced in 2006 will be completed this year.
