CONTROLLED GOODS DIRECTORATE (CGD)Mandate To safeguard controlled goods within Canada from unauthorized possession, examination or transfer. Role CGD ensures compliance with the Defence Production Act (DPA) and the Controlled Goods Regulations (CGR). The CGD ensures that every "person" in Canada that examines, possesses or transfers controlled goods is registered or exempted from registration. The CGD conducts inspections to ensure compliance and also examines security breaches, and alleged infractions to the DPA and the CGR prior to being referred to the appropriate lead agencies.
