CANADIAN INDUSTRIAL SECURITY DIRECTORATE (CISD)

Mandate

To safeguard CLASSIFIED and/or PROTECTED information and assets entrusted to industry for contracts administered by PWGSC and, on request, for contracts administered by other government departments. The safeguarding measures of all contracts with foreign entities are, without exception, administered by CISD with assistance provided by International Industrial Security Directorate when required.

Role

CISD provides personnel screening services for industry contractor personnel, ensures security and inspection of companies which have access to protected and classified information and assets, ensures the safeguarding of protected and classified government assets, and specifies security-required terms and conditions in classified contractual documents. CISD also provides personnel screening services for departmental employees.
