Development Information Program
Welcome to the Development Information Program (DIP). This Program financially supports the development of mass media and educational initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of international development and cooperation issues among Canadians.
DIP has three main components:
the Mass Media Initiative which funds the production of prime-time television and radio programs; articles in dailies and community newspapers; magazine features; and other innovative projects that target a broad Canadian audience;
the Global Classroom Initiative which supports the development and delivery of school-based global education resources and activities for elementary and secondary school students and teachers in Canada; and
the Journalism and Development Initiative which provides support to Canadian journalists interested in enhancing their professional experience in the field of international development and cooperation.
In 2004, DIP established a new award to recognize one outstanding international development film by a Canadian producer/filmmaker each year. This award was created in memory of Deborah Fletcher, a journalist and filmmaker who worked with CIDA for more than 20 years. To find out more about this award and the 2004 winner, consult the Deborah Fletcher Award of Excellence in Filmmaking on International Development .
