PROPOSED REGULATORY TEXT

Notice is hereby given that the Governor in Council, being satisfied that the inclusion of certain products set out in Parts I and II of Schedule I to the Hazardous Products Act is no longer necessary and that certain products are or are likely to be a danger to the health or safety of the public, pursuant to section 6 (see footnote a) of that Act, proposes to make the annexed Order Amending Schedule I to the Hazardous Products Act (Asbestos Products).

Interested persons may make representations with respect to the proposed Order within 75 days after the date of publication of this notice. All such representations must cite the Canada Gazette, Part I, and the date of publication of this notice, and be addressed to Paul Chowhan, Project Officer, Product Safety Bureau, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch, Department of Health, MacDonald Building, Postal Locator: 3504D, 123 Slater Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0K9 (fax: 613-952-9138; e-mail: paul_chowhan@hc-sc.gc.ca).

Persons making representations should identify any of those representations the disclosure of which should be refused under the Access to Information Act, in particular under sections 19 and 20 of that Act, and should indicate the reasons why and the period during which the representations should not be disclosed. They should also identify any representations for which there is consent to disclosure for the purposes of that Act.

ORDER AMENDING SCHEDULE I TO THE HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS ACT (ASBESTOS PRODUCTS)

AMENDMENTS

1. Item 16 of Part I of Schedule I to the Hazardous Products Act (see footnote 1) is repealed.

2. Item 28 of Part I of Schedule I to the Act is repealed.

3. Item 37 of Part I of Schedule I to the Act is repealed.

4. Item 40 of Part I of Schedule I to the Act is repealed.

5. Item 44 of Part II of Schedule I to the Act is replaced by the following:

44. Asbestos products as defined in section 1 of the Asbestos Products Regulations.

COMING INTO FORCE

6. This Order comes into force on the day on which it is registered.
