The mandate of the Apprenticeship Training and Skill Development Division of the Department of Education is:

• to manage the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Program ;
• to ensure that the training offered in training institutions and in industry is of the highest quality, and ;
• to ensure that the training offered is current and relevant to the needs of employers and apprentices in the Province of Nova Scotia.

The Apprenticeship Training and Skill Development Division administers the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act and General Regulations,

The Apprenticeship Training and Skill Development Division is responsible for the development and maintenance of apprenticeship and certification examinations.
