World champion Brian Joubert was far from perfect, but the Frenchman did enough during the men's free program to easily win the Skate Canada International competition Sunday in Quebec City.
Joubert recovered from a fall while attempting his quadruple jump to dispose of his competitors by earning a total of 213.62 points.

Belgian Kevin Van Der Perren finished second with 202.55 and Canada's Jeffrey Buttle skated to a bronze medal in 198.77, despite an error-filled performance.
Canada also received solid efforts from both Chris Mabee and Vaughn Chipeur, who completed the event in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Joubert, a superior jumper, was clearly not happy with his long program. After taking a tumble on his quad, Joubert downgraded a triple flip and looked sluggish on other jumps.
"I didn't do my job on the quad," Joubert told CBC Sports. "I didn't feel so good with my long program and need to practise it more."
Buttle, who is from Sudbury, Ont., landed a perfect triple triple axle-triple toe combination, but couldn't find any rhythm with the rest of his routine.
The skater, who decided not to add the difficult quadruple toe loop on Sunday, downgraded two triple attempts and then fell on his last triple Lutz jump.
"I started strong but then made some weird mistakes that I don't make in practice," said Buttle.
