Environmental Assessment of the Cacouna Energy Project:
Deadline for Comments on the Environmental Impact Statement
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (Agency) today announced the beginning of the comment period on the Environmental Impact Statement for the Cacouna Energy project, a proposal to build and operate a liquefied natural gas terminal at Gros-Cacouna harbour, along the St. Lawrence estuary, east of Rivière-du-Loup.
The Environmental Impact Statement was filed by the proponents, TransCanada Pipelines Limited and Petro-Canada. This consultation gives interested parties an opportunity to comment on whether the statement adequately addresses the requirements of the final guidelines for the preparation of the statement.
The public is invited to submit its comments in writing in the official language of its choice. All the documents submitted will be posted on the public registry for this project.
The Environmental Impact Statement is posted on the Agency's Web site. Copies of the report and related documents may be viewed at the following locations:
