The Government of Canada (GoC) and Marine Services On-line are committed to
respecting the personal privacy of individuals who visit our Web site. This
page summarizes the privacy policy and practices of the Marine Services On-line Web site.
- The GoC does not automatically gather any personal information from you,
such as your name, phone number, e-mail or street address during your visit
to its Web sites. This information is only obtained if you supply it
voluntarily, usually through contacting us via e-mail, or registering in a
secure portion of the site.
- All personal information you do provide is protected under the federal
Privacy Act. This means that, at the point of collection, you will be
informed that your personal information is being collected, the purpose for
which it is being collected and that you have a right of access to the

- Some institutions within the GoC use software that receives and records
the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of computers that have connected with
their Web sites. In such instances, institutions make no attempt to link
these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting GoC sites.
- Marine Services On-line does not use 'cookies' to track how visitors use our Web
site. Marine Services On-line does use temporary 'cookies' to facilitate your
transactions. These 'cookies' are meaningless session identification numbers
that exist in your browser's temporary memory only and are deleted when you
close your browser. Some functions on Marine Services On-line will not
work properly if you disable all cookies.
- Visitor information is not disclosed to anyone except Transport Canada personnel who manage this site on behalf of the MSO partners and who need the information, e.g., to respond to a request.
