Radiocommunication Act

Notice No. SMSE-004-07 - New Issues of RSS-111 and RSS-119

Notice is hereby given that Industry Canada is amending the following documents:

  1. Radio Standards Specification 111 (RSS-111), which sets certification requirements for radio transmitters and receivers in the band 4940-4990 MHz for public safety applications;

  2. Radio Standards Specification 119 (RSS-119), which sets out which sets out certification requirements for radio transmitters and receivers for the land mobile and fixed service in bands allocated within the range 27.41 MHz to 960 MHz.

These new issues are:

  • Radio Standards Specifications 111, Issue 2, Broadband Public Safety Equipment Operating in the Band 4940-4990 MHz; and

  • Radio Standards Specification 119, Issue 9, Land Mobile and Fixed Radio Transmitters and Receivers Operating in the Frequency Range 27.41-960 MHz.

The above documents were updated to reflect new changes in equipment and certification requirements.

General Information

The documents RSS-111, Issue 2 and RSS-119, Issue 9 will come into force as of the date of publication of this notice.

These documents have been coordinated with industry through the Radio Advisory Board of Canada (RABC).

The Radio Equipment Technical Standards Lists will be amended to reflect the above changes.

Interested parties should submit their comments within 120 days of the date of publication of this notice. Shortly after the close of the comment period, all comments received will be posted on Industry Canada's Spectrum Management and Telecommunications website at: http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/spectrum.

Respondents are requested to provide their comments in electronic format (WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF or ASCII TXT) to the following e-mail address: res.nmr@ic.gc.ca, along with a note specifying the software, version number and operating system used.

Written submissions should be addressed to the Director General, Spectrum Engineering, 300 Slater Street, Ottawa, Canada K1A 0C8.

All submissions should cite the Canada Gazette, Part I, the publication date, title, and notice reference number (SMSE-004-07).
