![]() Gazette Notice No. DGRB-002-07Department of Industry Radiocommunication Act Notice No. DGRB-002-07 — Proposed Modifications to Radiocommunication Information Circular 13 (RIC-13) Notice is hereby given that Industry Canada is releasing the following document for public comment: Radiocommunication Information Circular 13 - Technical Requirements for the Operation of Mobile Stations in the Maritime Service (RIC-13) Section 34.2 of the Radiocommunication Regulations, states that a person shall operate any radio apparatus on board a ship or vessel in the maritime service in accordance with the Technical Requirements for the Operation of Mobile Stations in the Maritime Service. In response to modifications to the use of certain radio frequencies allocated to the maritime service, the Department is proposing changes to the technical requirements. The proposed changes affect frequency use, areas of operation and certain restrictions pertaining to operation in the VHF band. Minor editorial and organizational changes are also being proposed. These changes are mainly reflected in Sections 4, 8, and 10 (new section) and the schedules. The proposed changes are indicated in redline and strikeout. As part of a reclassification of regulation-type documents, be advised that RIC-13 will be reissued as Regulation by Reference 2 (RBR-2). General Information: Targeted stakeholder pre-consultations have been carried out with government agencies and marine industry organizations. Interested parties should submit their comments within 60 days of the date of publication of this notice. Based on the comments received, the Department will modify the technical requirements and post the revised document Spectrum Management and Telecommunications website.
