Search of records: After applying

Once your application for a search of citizenship records is received at the Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia, it will be reviewed and we will start processing it.

We will search the citizenship registration system for the record you have requested.

If we find a record, we will send you a letter stating when the person became a citizen or if there is a Canadian citizenship application in process.

If there is no record, or if we cannot find a record using the information you provided, we will send you a letter stating that there is no record.
