Can information be accessed privately?

d A man with a vision impairment at a bank machine is embarrassed by having his negative bank balance blared over a loud speaker as other customers listen in.

It is important that devices with voice output can communicate information to users without broadcasting the information to the public. In this example, private bank information is being broadcast in a public space, much to the embarrassment of the user. This standard applies to all information transaction machines, multimedia products, radio receivers, and soundcards.
