In November 2005, the Official Languages Act was amended to essentially make enforceable an obligation for all federal institutions to take positive measures to support the development of official-language minority communities and to promote linguistic duality.
The guide aims to orient the conduct of federal government institutions in the performance of their responsabilities concerning the implementation of the Governement's commitment
stated in Section 41 of the Act, which appears in Part VII. It takes into account the amendments made to the Act in November 2005. A fact sheet and
a bookmark are also available.
This guide has been developed to facilitate the implementation of section 41 of the OLA and to serve as a performance measurement tool within designated federal institutions.
