A-Z Index HELP

In this "Help" section you will find information on the organization of this site and the resources available on CultureCanada.gc.ca. If you cannot find the answers you seek in this section, please send your question to the CultureCanada.gc.ca development team via the "Contact Us" button on the main menu banner - they will be happy to assist you.

Categories/Left hand menu

Our left hand menu makes it possible to browse government programs and services by category. There are sixteen (16) categories, grouped under three (3) main headings: Culture, Heritage and Recreation. When you click on any one of the categories, you will see a page offering you the chance either to display all the results, or refine your selection further by choosing a subcategory. You can also narrow your results to a single province or territory by using the drop-down menu marked "pick another region".

The menu items on the left stay within the geographical area you have chosen. For example, if you are in the category Music and choose Ontario, the categories on the left hand menu (Books and Publishing, Languages, et cetera) will continue show results for Ontario only, unless you choose another region from the drop-down menu.

The links on the display pages are listed alphabetically. Below each link is a "source" link to the home page of the appropriate department or agency. A Canadian flag icon next to the source indicates a federal government department or agency; a provincial flag indicates a provincial government department or agency.

Search

Our government-wide search engine allows you to search not only our own pages, but also more than 50 federal, provincial and municipal government sites related to culture, heritage and recreation. This search tool is located in the text box near the top of the page, as well as in the box marked "Government-wide search" in the middle of the page.

To use the government-wide search, simply enter your search terms in the text box. You can use quotation marks to search for a specific phrase (e.g., "government grants"). You can also use the asterisk (*) as a wild card (the search term "music*", for example will search for the terms "music", "musical" and "musicians", among others). For more information on using the search tool, please consult our search help page (link here).

News releases

This section contains links to selected news releases from federal government departments and agencies. We have grouped the news releases under three categories: culture, heritage and recreation.

Calendar

Our calendar lists government-sponsored events related to culture, heritage and recreation, with links to the appropriate website.
