Geophysical Data Centre
The Geophysical Data Centre provides access to the Canadian Aeromagnetic
Database and the Canadian Gravity Database and supplies digital data, data
processing and plotting services.
The Canadian Aeromagnetic Data Base contains more than 12 million line
kilometres of regional total field survey data and high resolution detailed
surveys. The aeromagnetic data have been levelled to a common datum, and
levelled profile and gridded data are now available for all ten provinces
and the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
Activities:
- Geoscience Data Repository for Earth Science Sector geophysical and geochemical data -- Free viewing and downloading of national gridded geophysical data sets. In particular : Aeromagnetic, Gravity, Radioactivity, Seismic/Magnetotelluric, or NGR geochemical data.
- View and download the 1 km grid of magnetic anomaly data of Canada, free of charge, using the Geoscience Data Repository for Aeromagnetic data. These data correspond to the Magnetic Anomaly Map of North America. (Jun 01, 2003)
- Red Indian Line airborne geophysics compilation (Part I). (Apr 12, 2002)
Open File 3923 (CD-ROM)
- Levelling of Yukon Territory Magnetic
Data. (Feb 16, 2000)
- Levelling Aeromagnetic surveys to
a Common Datum.
To account for secular variations in the geomagnetic field (and other
variable parameters), its neccessary to level aeromagnetic surveys to
a common datum and to each other. This paper describes the levelling process.
The Canadian Gravity Data Base contains more than 700,000 gravity observations
and 10,000 gravity control stations. Data is provided in a variety of formats
in consultation with clients. The National
Gravity Program is carried out by Geomatics
Canada.
