National Recreational Fisheries Awards

Selection Process

Each year, the Selection Committee reviews all nominations that are submitted against established assessment criteria and their recommendations are forwarded to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans for the final selection.

What is the Selection committee?

The selection committee is a national committee of prominent Canadians representing each province and territory.

How many Awards are presented each year?

A maximum of five nominations demonstrating stewardship in action are chosen each year.

Each recipient receives a commemorative medal (struck by the Royal Canadian Mint), a lapel pin and a framed Recreational Fisheries Award Certificate signed by the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans. To view the awards, please see Awards & Awards Ceremony.

The awards are presented to each recipient at the annual Recreational Fisheries Awards Ceremony.
