Encana and Partners Charged Under Canada Wildlife Act

Medicine Hat, Alberta - October 18, 2007 - Alberta Energy Company Limited, and AEC West Ltd., (carrying on business in partnership under the style and trade name of EnCana Oil & Gas Partnership), EnCana Corporation, and EnCana Oil & Gas Company Ltd. have been charged in Alberta Provincial Court with one count under the Wildlife Area Regulations of the Canada Wildlife Act.

The charge stems from the March 2005 installation of a section of gas pipeline on the Canadian Forces Base Suffield National Wildlife Area. The work was allegedly carried out without a permit, contrary to the Wildlife Area Regulations.

First appearance is set for December 6, 2007 in Provincial Court in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
