“Selling an original idea is the longest of long shots, but you increase your chances by attaching yourself to a proven commodity. It was a lesson that served me well in setting up Dark Matter. Rather than go out and pitch it as a television series, we partnered with Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg over at Dark Horse Comics and launched it as a limited comic book series.” Continue reading.

Comments and queries for the week of August 12

Love for Four Senses

I watch Four Senses, which has great recipes but, sadly, are not available on the website and I don’t know why the measures are not given on the show. Can you provide me the recipes on the Butter Tart Road with Wanda Beaver episode, which include the biscuits, flaky crust and that delicious looking crispy chicken? Please note that anytime I click on the recipes, Norton Security mentions it’s an unsecure site. Many thanks. —Diane

It seems you’re not the only one having issues accessing the recipes featured on Four Senses. The show requests you email info@ami.ca and ask for the recipes you’d like to make.

Who’s that Killjoys actor?

Who is the actor in the photo? I read the article attached but can’t figure out who he is. Thanks. —Chris

It’s Sam Romwell, played by Keon Alexander.

Houdini & Doyle disappears after one season

Meh, we don’t need another re-skinned procedural drama anyway, even if it’s using the Houdini and Doyle gimmick. Now if we had like female ancestor counterparts, THAT would be worth watching! —Mari

Quite sad. It was a fun, enjoyable palate cleanser to the increasingly violent, dark and lewd offerings found throughout cable TV. —Anthony

FOX ruins another GREAT show. You can’t tell me that BBC, BBC America, Syfy or another network wouldn’t grab Houdini & Doyle in a heartbeat! —L

From Kelly Townsend of The TV Junkies:

Link: Dark Matter: Melanie Liburd on building trust with Nyx
“I love the story of how she [earned her abilities]; it’s quite a sad story, how they were taken as children from their home planet, where lots of people there have heightened senses and that’s why they were kidnapped, taken to this ship and drugged. Once she does escape, she uses everything in her power.” Continue reading.
