What's New

Quebec's Pascal Gelinas' documentary, The Water-Bearer, received the prestigious Philippe Tailliez Prize at the 39th Festival International du Film Maritime, d'Exploration et d'Environnement de Toulon in France. The documentary which has been screened around the world had also received First Prize and the Audience Award at the 4th Portneuf Environmental Film Festival.

2007 Scotiabank Giller Prize
Past Giller Prize winners Michael Ondaatje and M.G. Vassanji are once again nominated for Canada's premier literary prize, which awards $40,000 annually to the author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English. The winner of the 2007 Scotiabank Giller Prize will be announced on Tuesday, November 6 in Toronto. More...

2007 Governor General's Literary Awards
The latest writings from Michael Ondaatje, Margaret Atwood and M.G. Vassanji will compete for the 2007 Governor General's Literary Awards. The cash prize for Canada's oldest literary honour has been augmented this year in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Canada Council for the Arts, which administers the annual awards.
