English Animation Studio

NFB animation pioneer Norman McLaren's legacy of innovation and artistic excellence lives on at the Academy Award®-winning Animation Studio in Montreal. The Studio is located, appropriately enough, in the McLaren Building, the NFB's national headquarters where animators enjoy access to state-of-the-art CGI animation, mixing and screening facilities, and more.

The internationally renowned Animation Studio has been home to many breakthroughs: from the early days of auteur animation to key developments in computer animation. Working at the Studio means being part of a creative, supportive environment where animators have the time and resources to realize their vision, without compromises, where new and emerging animators work alongside many of Canada's most accomplished filmmakers, and where ideas and expertise are shared.

The Animation Studio is accelerating the development of new talent from across the country — including its Hothouse program for emerging filmmakers, now in its second successful year. We're also working with international co-production partners from around the world.
