Junior opens the RIDM

For the 10th Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal, November 8 to 18, the National Film Board of Canada is premiering several eagerly awaited works, including the opening film Junior, the first documentary feature by Isabelle Lavigne and Stéphane Thibault about the behind-the-scenes world of junior hockey.

Selection of NFB films

This year, the NFB is offering a powerful selection of auteur documentaries: Le peuple invisible by Richard Desjardins and Robert Monderie; Au pays des colons by Denys Desjardins; Des nouvelles du Nord by Benoit Pilon (Amazone Film/NFB); Radiant City by Gary Burns and Jim Brown (Burns Film Ltd./NFB); and Gene Boy Came Home (Gene Boy revient chez lui) by Alanis Obomsawin.

Films that benefited from ACIC or the NFB /INIS partnership

The NFB's ACIC program (Aide au cinéma indépendant - Canada) supported these RIDM films: Americano by Carlos Ferrand; Pont de verre by Anne Barth; Bombes à retardement by Guylaine Maroist and Éric Ruel; Le doigt dans l'oeil by Julien Fréchette; Comme à Cuba by Fernand Bélanger, Louise Dugal and Yves Angrignon; and Bernard Gosselin, cinéaste by Serge Beauchemin, Geoffroy Beauchemin and Pierre Mignot (screened as part of the Image Workshop). The NFB/INIS partnership provided NFB post-production services to six student shorts, which will screen at the INIS Documentary Workshop.

The 10th RIDM dedicated to Pierre Perrault

The great Pierre Perrault would have been 80 this year. The RIDM is dedicating its 10th edition to him with the special screening of Un pays sans bon sens!, about the still relevant issue of nationhood.

Screening of Jacques Leduc's Chronique de la vie quotidienne

This important NFB collective film from the 1970s is composed of eight works of variable lengths, made by Jacques Leduc and various other directors. Workshop and special screening.
