I believe that community action across Canada is key to environmental sustainability. That is why, during this Environment Week and throughout the year, I encourage all Canadians to look around their homes and their communities for ways to get involved in improving the quality of the environment.
Together, we need to set an example and reach out to our friends, here at home and around the world by celebrating our achievements. And we need to continue to take action to achieve real reductions in air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions.
All Canadians need to be involved if we hope to address the significant challenges of climate change, air and water pollution and the challenges that face Canada's natural habitat.
The 9th annual Clean Air Day, coming June 6, is an important grassroots-led initiative being celebrated all across the country. Clean Air Day raises awareness and encourages action on clean air and climate change issues, and helps Canadians get involved in activities that contribute to cleaner air, healthier communities and a better quality of life for all.
Environment Week is an opportunity for every one of us to continue to support each other in taking action so that we can ensure a healthy environment for future generations.
I would like to thank all Canadians for playing an important role in reaching the objectives that we have set for our Government and ourselves. Together, we will achieve our common goal of a cleaner, greener and healthier future for the entire country. Together we will preserve and protect our natural legacy.
Have a great Environment Week!
