The hosts are no longer undefeated at the Canadian mixed curling championship after Manitoba edged Alberta 5-4 in Draw 8 at the Calgary Curling Club on Tuesday.
Manitoba took control of the match with two points in the eighth end, but Alberta scored one in the ninth as the two teams went to the final regulation end tied 4-4.
Manitoba scored once in the 10th to improve to 4-4.
Alberta fell to 7-1.
Ontario (6-2) moved to within a game of Alberta with an 8-6 win over Northwest Territories-Yukon (2-6).
Ontario took control early, opening with two points and adding three in the third end.
Northern Ontario (5-3) lost its second game of the day and fell into a tie for third place with Nova Scotia and Quebec.
British Columbia (3-5) scored two in the 10th end in a 6-5 win over the rink from Thunder Bay, Ont.
Quebec earned an 8-5 win over Saskatchewan (1-7) while Nova Scotia completed an 8-6 win over Newfoundland and Labrador (3-5) to cause the three-way tie for third.
New Brunswick (4-4) rounded out the draw with an 8-2 win over Prince Edward Island (3-5).
