Occupational Health and Safety

Health Canada is working in concert with Canadian business, government and professional, trade, and community organizations to build a healthier and more productive Canadian workforce. Occupational injuries and illnesses are at record lows because of our combined efforts.

Health Canada, through its Workplace Health and Public Safety Programme (WHPSP), provides national leadership to enhance healthy living for all working Canadians, develop health policy and advance best practices in the workplace.

Health Canada also serves as the national coordinator for the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and is responsible for the overall governance and administration of this program in Canada
