What if you are expecting a refund?

Generally, it takes about two weeks for us to process a TELEFILE return and issue the Notice of assessment and, if applicable the refund. In fact, last year over 98% of taxpayers who used TELEFILE to file their tax returns received their refunds within two weeks. You will get your refund even faster if your direct deposit information is already on file with us.

It is important to know that you cannot start direct deposit (or change your existing direct deposit information) when you are using TELEFILE. If you want to start or change your direct deposit information, you must get your banking information updated prior to using TELEFILE. You can do this one of two ways:

  • You can complete Form T1DD, Direct Deposit Request-Individuals, and mail it one of the offices listed on the form. Be sure to allow several weeks for this form to be processed prior using TELEFILE.

  • You can visit My Account to update your banking information online.

If your direct deposit information is already on file with us, we will automatically use this information to issue your refund.

To get information about the status of your current year refund, you can call Telerefund at 1-800-267-6999 or visit My Account.

Note
There may be a slight delay in processing your return if we ask you to send us receipts to support claims or deductions on your return.
