OUTPUTS 2002-2003 |
- In July 2002, the Department published the
Environmental Scan: Access to Justice in Both Official Languages.
This study provides a picture of the situation in each province
and each territory.

- A federal-provincial-territorial task force on
access to justice in both official languages was created and funding
was obtained to support our initiatives under the government's
official languages action plan.
|
OBJECTIVE: : To create a Fund to support
access to justice in both official languages and comply with the
Department's legal obligations relating to the implementation of
the Federal Court judgment concerning the Contraventions Act
and the Legislative Instruments Re-enactment Act.

- Include a component on access to justice in both
official languages in the government's Official Languages Action
Plan including the Support Fund and the implementation of the
Department's legal obligations.

- The Access to Justice in Both Official Languages
Support Fund was created and has been included in the Official
Languages Action Plan ($18.5 M).
- The Department's legal obligations were recognized
as a component of access to justice in both official languages
in the Action Plan ($27 M).
- Information meetings have been held with the
main interested organizations in Quebec and the other provinces.
- The Treasury Board has approved the financial
resources for the Fund, which will be operational in the Summer
of 2003.
