Legal Training

OBJECTIVE: To bring the communities together and make them more aware of language rights, both within the Department of Justice and in dealing with its partners, by providing training activities.

PRINCIPAL MEASURES

OUTPUTS 2002-2003

  • Continue to organize and deliver a course for common law and civil law students who want to learn about the most recent developments in the practice of law in the public sector, jointly with the faculties of civil law and common law of the University of Ottawa. This course is given by experts in the Department, in a bijural format and in both official languages.
  • The course "Current Trends in the Practice of Federal Law" was given to the students of the Common Law Faculty and the Civil Law Faculty at the University of Ottawa during the winter 2003 semester.
  • A workshop in both official languages on the recent trends of the linguistic rights will be offered to the legal professionals in Justice. The topics covered include the scope of the commitment to the advancement of English and French.
