CANMET Energy Technology Center

The CANMET Energy Technology Centre (CETC) is one of the main research and development arms of Natural Resources Canada. CETC develops and delivers knowledge- and technology-based programs for the sustainable production and use of Canada's energy supply.

CETC works in partnership with other federal, provincial, territorial and municipal government departments and agencies; industry; universities; utilities; associations; and a wide variety of private sector companies across Canada.

Science & Technology Centres

CETC's national S&T programs and services are delivered throught three regional centres: CETC-Varennes, near Montréal, Quebec, CETC-Ottawa in Bells Corners (Ottawa), Ontario and CETC-Devon, near Edmonton, Alberta.

About Us

CETC's technology development activities are performed on cost-shared basis through either in-house R&D work at our laboratories or by providing funding support to our technology partners. Our activities focus on reducing the costs of existing technologies by performing applied research or by undertaking more fundamental research where new technologies and concepts offer significant future market potential. Deployment and commercialization activities serve to increase market penetration of proven, cost-effective technologies, through support for standards development, technical workshops, training and full-scale implementation.
