How do I contact the local news departments with a news tip?
If you’ve got a news tip, phone the CBC News at Six assignment desk at 1-888-454-2221 for TV news. Or at the assignment desk of CBC Radio One in Halifax at (902) 420-4350 or in Sydney at (902) 536-4100 for radio news.

How do I suggest an idea or pose a question to a local show?
Go to the Programs page, and follow the link to the show. Look for the “Contact” link for that show in the left-hand side of the show’s page.

How do I suggest an idea or pose a question to a national show?
Go to Programs A-Z, look for the listing for that show, then follow the link to the website for that show. Look for the “Contact Us” section of the site.

Can I get transcripts and/or tapes of programs?

CBC Radio programs are available through External link opens in a new windowCision Canada or call (902) 422-9200. You will have to provide Cision with the program name, the time the interview ran (accurate to the hour) and the date. Note: there is a charge.

CBC Television - Nova Scotia

CBC Nova Scotia does not provide video copies of Land & Sea episodes. Most of these episodes can be purchased for educational purposes only from the External link opens in a new windowNova Scotia Department of Education (902) 424-2440.

CBC DOES NOT provide video copies of any programs featuring musical, comedy or artistic performances (ex: This Hour Has 22 Minutes, East Coast Music Awards, Songwriters’ Circle, Halifax Comedy Fest). This is due to performance, and/or music rights.

How do I get a PSA aired on radio or a community event mentioned?
CBC Radio will accept requests for public service announcements for non-profit organizations. Please send announcements two weeks ahead to Jackie Salmon via email. Faxes also accepted at (902) 420-4478, or by mail at CBC Radio, Box 3000, Halifax, NS, B3J 3E9.

Public service announcements can also be sent to Olga Milosevich via email, or by fax (902) 420-4089. You can all in a psa on Information Morning’s talkback line at 1-800-582-5526.

How can my school/community group take a tour of the CBC?
Tours of CBC Halifax are offered to students with courses in media arts, journalism or broadcasting, and to community groups with a particular interest in public broadcasting. Please call 420-4152 for more information and to request a tour.
