Federal Departments and AgenciesDepartments and agencies required to prepare a sustainable development strategy and respond to environmental petitionsDepartments and agencies—listed in Schedule I of the Financial Administration Act and in the Schedule to the Auditor General Act, and those that have been directed by the Governor in Council under subsection 24(3) of the Auditor General Act—are required to prepare a sustainable development strategy every three years and respond to environmental petitions submitted by Canadian residents (see sections 22 and 24 of the Auditor General Act). These documents are not published by the Office of the Auditor General and are the responsibility of each department.
