NoticeDecember 5, 2006 Taking Measures to Reduce Line upsCanadians travelling BY AIR to the United States after January 23, 2007 will need to have a valid passport. For the time being, if you are NOT TRAVELLING BY AIR, you do not need a passport to enter the United States. As a result of the confusion surrounding this new requirement, Passport Canada is experiencing a high volume of passport demand. In November 2006, Passport Canada received 355,474 passport applications compared to 267,303 in November 2005. This represents an increase of 88,171 applications or 33%. Passport Canada recommends that applicants mail-in their application or visit one of our Canada Post / Service Canada receiving agents. Passport Canada asks Canadians who do not require a passport now to submit their application later in the spring. To avoid delays: present a complete application- A complete application form signed by the applicant and guarantor
- Two identical passport photos - 1 signed by the guarantor
- Original proof of citizenship
- At least one official piece of identification in the name to appear on the passport
- Any Canadian travel document issued in the past 5 years
- All custody documents regarding children
- Fee:
- $87 for an adult
- $37 for children 3 to 15
- $22 for children under 3
