An airport can be an exciting, fascinating and scary place. It certainly is for Benoît, who’s about to go on his very first trip all by himself. The fact that he’s traveling halfway around the world—to Australia!—makes him nervous. And when Benoît gets nervous, he talks… and talks and talks! He gets even chattier when he meets a girl, Lucille, on the plane. But Lucille isn’t interested in video games or sports. She doesn’t talk much, but when she does she reveals a whole new dimension of the world: the mysteries hidden beneath the surface of every sentence. That’s interesting: Benoît seems calmer already…
To create this show, a feast of poetry for the eyes, ears and heart, playwright and director Reynald Robinson worked with a class of First Nations pupils and a group of students the same age from a school on the outskirts of Paris. This unique approach is typical of Théâtre du Gros Mécano, whose previous productions include The Man, Chopin and the Long Winter by Reynald Robinson, and La Librairie (The Bookshop) by Marie-Josée Bastien.
