Title: A treat is a treat!

Characters: Amandine, David and Mademoiselle Lulu, the dachshund

First panel: It’s a beautiful fall day. Amandine and David are making a great game of burying themselves in the fallen leaves on the banks of Little Creek River, right beside the used tire recycling plant. Mademoiselle Lulu, the obvious choice to play the hunter in the game, has to burrow through the leaves to find Amandine and David, who are disguised as Calamity Jane and Buffalo Bill.

Scenario: David and Amandine are buried in the leaves. We see only two piles of leaves and Amandine’s legs clad in cowboy boots sticking up out of the leaves.

We see Mademoiselle Lulu in a sheriff’s hat with her tail pointed straight out, sniffing at the piles of leaves. She is deep in thought, and her thoughts lead her to her obsession—food. Lulu’s reflection appears in the inset.

Bubble

  • David: Hey, Sherlock Hound, find me if you can! (bubble 1A – pile 1)
  • Amandine: No, find ME! (bubble 1B - pile 2)

Inset

  • Mademoiselle Lulu: Bounty hunter, hunter’s rabbit stew, hunter’s chicken stew !?! (inset)

Second panel: Mademoiselle Lulu doesn’t need to be asked twice. She ploughs into the piles of leaves in search of Calamity Jane and Buffalo Bill. Her keen sense of smell leads her right to her prey.

Scenario: We see a close-up of Amandine sitting in the leaves (wearing a vest with a “Calamity Jane” badge and a cowgirl hat). She is patting Mademoiselle Lulu’s head and congratulating her. David is standing up (wearing a cowboy vest with a “Buffalo Bill” badge). He is looking around him with a disgusted look on his face.

In the background, we see the river, huge trees and old tires.

Bubble 2

  • Amandine: Good dog! You deserve a treat … (bubble 2A)
  • David: What’s that smell ? It smells like my big brother’s socks. ( bubble 2B)

Inset

  • - Mademoiselle Lulu: Hunter’s rabbit stew, hunter’s chicken stew?!? Hmm … (inset)

Third panel : The children have completely forgotten about Mademoiselle Lulu’s treat because they have suddenly realized they have a big problem on their hands: old tires are strewn all around them, ruining their playground on the banks of the river. Mademoiselle Lulu jumps up and down impatiently.

Scenario: Amandine is still sitting in the leaves. She explains to David the source of the disgusting smell. David, still standing, indignantly puffs out his chest and declares his commitment for the future.

Bubble 3

  • Amandine: It’s not old socks, Buffalo. It’s the smell of rotten old tires! (bubble 3A)
  • David: When I grow up, I’m going to declare a war on pollution! I’m going to be a CSR* Agent! (bubble 3B)

Fourth panel : Mademoiselle Lulu has quickly grasped the nature of David’s commitment.

Scenario: Mademoiselle Lulu, just as indignant, puffs out her chest and also makes a commitment.

Bubble 4

  • Mademoiselle Lulu: I’m going to lobby for CSR too: Canine Social Responsibility. After all, a treat is the responsibility of all humans! (bubble 4)
