Horizontal and International Programs

The Horizontal and International Programs mandate is to provide corporate (SEP) functional guidance on horizontal and international health policy strategies and issues.

Specifically, in close collaboration with Bureaus and Programs, HIP is responsible for:

  • Providing strategic policy advice on and analysis of SEP-related major and/or horizontal initiatives at the programme, branch, department, interdepartmental and international levels
     
  • Serving as the SEP focal point on policy initiatives within the Branch, HC and other departments and agencies, including coordinating broad departmental exercises and cabinet and/or parliamentary related initiatives or processes
     
  • Managing and coordinating the Committee on Health and Environment and related work activities and F/P/T organizations
     
  • Liaising with international partners on key cross-cutting international environmental health activities to facilitate the advancement of SEP/HC positions at international negotiations, meetings and collaborations, and to support program-level international activities
     
  • Serving as the SEP lead for developing an integrated SEP international strategy to direct international commitments and priorities and for managing and coordinating international travel authorizations
