Classification of Products at the Cosmetic-Drug Interface

On June 11th, stakeholders were invited to provide input on classifying products at the cosmetic-drug interface based on the draft classification guidance Classification of Products at the Cosmetic-Drug Interface. The 30-day comment period has now ended. Health Canada would like to thank the individuals and associations that took the time to submit their comments. Input received during the comment period will be used to finalize the draft guidance.

Next Steps

The finalized guidance document will guide the development of the product assessments against the proposed criteria, a process which begins in the Fall, 2007.

Additional stakeholder consultations will then be held on the product assessments and the potential implications for affected stakeholders. Health Canada will also develop and communicate an action plan for products that are affected by any revisions to classification.
