Natural Resources Canada Natural Resources Minister Lunn Meets with U.S. and Mexican Counterparts to Discuss North American EnergyWASHINGTON — Natural gas markets, energy efficiency and energy technology were part of the discussions at a North American Energy Ministerial Meeting today. The Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of Natural Resources, participated in the meeting with United States Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman and Mexican Secretary of Energy Fernando Canales Clariond. "This meeting is timely and underscores our positive energy relationships," said Minister Lunn. "We are committed to working together to improve our understanding of the distinct energy capacities of our nations, and to sharing our expertise in key areas such as energy technology." Energy was also an issue for discussion when Prime Minister Harper, President Bush and President Fox met in Cancun, Mexico, in March of this year. At that meeting, leaders highlighted the importance of collaborating on energy technologies and facilitating energy markets in order to enhance energy security. Today's meeting was preceded by a meeting of the North American Energy Working Group (NAEWG), an officials-level forum for cooperation on energy issues, including electricity, oil sands, natural gas, science and technology, nuclear, energy efficiency, regulatory cooperation and hydrocarbons.
