Final payments for the 2000-01 crop year
announced
Winnipeg -- The CWB today announced the final
payments that farmers will receive for wheat, durum wheat, feed
barley and designated barley marketed by the CWB in the 2000-01
crop year. The crop year began August 1, 2000 and ended July 31,
2001.
This is the earliest final payment announcement in more than 20
years. Until 1999 the CWB could not legally issue the final payment
prior to January following the crop year. The Board of Directors
decided to issue the final payment earlier as one of a series of
cash flow enhancements the CWB has announced in the last two
years.
Final payments represent the balance of the money owing to farmers
after their grain has been sold by the CWB, and after operating
costs have been deducted. The cheques will be mailed on December 7,
2001. Direct deposits will be received by December 10.
Final payments, in dollars per tonne, for the base grades in each
pool account are listed below. The total payment is based on the
value of grain in store at Vancouver or the St. Lawrence.

No. 1 Canada Western Red Spring Wheat 12.5 | $182.00 | $5.00 | $3.80 | $190.80 |

A complete listing of payments for all grades in dollars per tonne
and dollars per bushel will be posted on the CWB's Web site (under
the Payments link) at www.cwb.ca.
Controlled by western Canadian farmers, the CWB is the largest
wheat and barley marketer in the world. As one of Canada's biggest
exporters, the Winnipeg-based organization sells grain to more than
70 countries and returns all sales revenue, less marketing costs,
to Prairie farmers.
