Operations
The Operations Secretariat helps ensure the successful functioning of the
Cabinet Committee for Operations and related ad hoc committees.
The Cabinet Committee for Operations provides the day-to-day coordination of
the Government’s agenda, including issues management, legislation and house
planning, and communications.
The Operations Secretariat supplies strategic advice and coordinates
departmental linkages on a wide range of priorities and issues.
Key roles include:
- Scheduling committee meetings;
- Recording committee deliberations;
- Preparing briefing notes for committee members, the chair and Privy
Council Office (PCO) officials;
- Reviewing departmental policy proposals to achieve a standard quality for
ministerial consideration;
- Ensuring timely communication of committee decisions to departments and
agencies across government.
The secretariat also plays a policy coordination role within PCO.
