April 12, 2007 -
OTTAWA -- The Friends of the National Arts Centre Orchestra are pleased to announce the third in their popular series of Saturday morning lecture/performances. On Saturday, April 14 at 10:30, Margaret Munro Tobolowska, a cellist with the Orchestra, will be featured in a performance and reading of her children's story "A Cello for Chelsea".
Margaret Munro Tobolowska joined the National Arts Centre Orchestra in January 1999. Born in Toronto she began to play the cello at the age of twelve and received her Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto in 1992. She then continued her studies, on a full scholarship, at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, after which she won a position with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Ms. Tobolowska also performs as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles. More recently she has begun writing stories, composing music, and performing for children. Her first story, "A Cello for Chelsea" tells the story of a young girl whose life changes when she discovers the cello.
