Festival's "Great Baroque Composers" concert led by Pinchas Zukerman features NAC Orchestra principal musicians in solo roles on July 9

Ottawa, Canada -- National Arts Centre Orchestra principal
musicians Joanna G'froerer (flute), Charles Hamann (oboe) and
Karen Donnelly (trumpet) will step into the spotlight for the Great
Composers Festival concert conducted by Music Director Pinchas
Zukerman on Tuesday, July 9 at 19:30 in NAC's Southam Hall. The
concert titled "Great Baroque Composers" consists of music by Bach,
Fasch and Vivaldi and also features the Cantata Singers of Ottawa,
prepared by Laurence Ewashko.
Tickets for the concert include a Pre-Concert Chamber Music
recital beginning at 18:15 in Southam Hall.
The main concert at 19:30 begins with NACO principal flute Joanna
G'froerer performing Bach's Partita in A minor for Solo
Flute. Bach's Concerto for Oboe and Violin will see
NACO's principal oboe Charles Hamann joined by Music Director
Pinchas Zukerman leading the Orchestra from the violin. Then it is
principal trumpet Karen Donnelly's turn to shine in Fasch's
Concerto for Trumpet, Two Oboes and Strings.
The second half also begins with a solo: German violinist Viviane
Hagner, a mentor in the NAC's Young Artists Programme, will
perform Bach's "Chaconne" from Partita in D minor. The
concert closes with two choral works by the Cantata Singers of
Ottawa: Bach's motet Der Gerechte kömmt um and
Vivaldi's Kyrie in G minor.
The Great Composers Festival is presented by the Casino du
Lac-Leamy in association with the Ottawa Citizen.
Tickets for this Great Composers Festival on Tuesday, July 9 are
on sale now at $14.00, 25.00 and 34.00 (GST and Facility Fee
included) at the NAC Box Office (Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to
21:00), and through Ticketmaster

Great Composers Festival concerts. Half-price tickets for students in
all sections of the hall are on sale in person at the NAC Box Office
