Donations and Trust Fund Details for RCMP Cst. Chris Worden

On behalf of its members, the RCMP's Staff Relations Representative Program wishes to thank the public for their outpouring of sympathy and support as we continue to join with the families in mourning our fallen member, Constable Christopher Worden. We now have information about where to direct donations. This is the only approved and legitimate information.

Donations:

1) The troopmates of slain RCMP officer Cst. Christopher Worden, with the assistance of the Staff Relations Representative (SRR) Program, have created a trust fund in his daughter's name to support his infant daughter, Alexis, through the coming years.

A donation may be made to the "Alexis Worden Trust Fund" by attending any CIBC across Canada and by quoting account 2784033 and transit 03192.

2) As well, Chris' wife Jodie has created the "Chris Worden Memorial Fund" in his memory at Wilfrid Laurier University to help support their wishes for the Golden Hawk Football Program.

Donations can be made via cheque payable to Wilfrid Laurier University (on the bottom of the cheque please print Chris Worden Memorial Fund) at:

The RCMP wishes to advise Canadian citizens and businesses to beware of attempts by some to benefit from the recent tragedy in Hay River, Northwest Territories.

"Unfortunately we know from past experience that unscrupulous people may try to profit from the pain and suffering of others by approaching well-meaning Canadians for donations," says National Executive member S/Sgt. Brian Roach.

Those who feel they may have been victimized by this type of fraud or who have relevant information are asked to contact their local police and the PhoneBusters National Call Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

All registered Canadian charities are listed on the Canada Revenue Agency Web site at www.cra-arc.gc.ca/charities.

We continue to thank Canadians for their prayers, thoughts and good wishes at what continues to be a difficult time for us all.
